On February 16, the Carmel River Watershed Council convened the Carmel River Watershed Advisory Council Meeting at Carmel Valley Ranch. Opening remarks from President, Michael Waxer, and Executive Director, Lorin Letendre, updated attendees on CRWC priorities for the year ahead.
Joe Rawtzer provided an overview of the Fire/Fuel Break Maintenance Initiative. Discussion of the Soberanes Fire response and future hazards were enlightening and informative. The US Forest Service proposal for the Proposed Strategic Community Fuelbreak Project on the Monterey Ranger District was discussed. The comment period for this EIA is open until February 27.
